Elite Institute for Instructors offers several classroom courses as part of their certification process. Most, but not all of them are required as part of the certification process.
These courses are held live and can be attended either in person or via Zoom. Those attending via Zoom must register in advance as a Zoom participant. To facilitate quality classroom interactions, those attending via Zoom must provide good quality video and audio. A test of the Zoom connection must be held with a representative of Elite Institute at least one day prior to class.

The classroom courses present concepts and techniques that are key to the topic being covered. Class time consists of lecture with examples, group discussion of topics, and self-assessment on retention and understanding of the topics presented.

Course slides and the self-assessments done in the course are available to participants after completing the course.

These courses also serve as the first step in instructor certification. We use classroom interactions to observe each participant's ability to:
-
Listen to information/concepts they are receiving
-
Evaluate the information received for clarity and understandability
-
Ask questions about things that aren't clear or fully understood
-
Communicate their questions/observations clearly
All four of these abilities are key to being an effective instructor. Educational studies agree that the most effective teachers regularly spend classroom time listening to and interacting with their students.
Listed below are short descriptions for the Classroom Courses we provide.

Lesson Planning - A Lesson Plan outlines what will be covered during a single class period or lesson. Lesson Plans need to be written out at least once for each class and then updated when modified. This course presents a relatively simple Lesson Plan consisting of 5 parts and provides several examples. The 5 parts that are covered are:
-
Learning Objectives - define what students should know and be able to do by the end of the lesson
-
Instructional Materials - have the power to captivate students' attention and bring learning to life
-
Instruction Strategies and Learning Activities - specify how each learning objective will be taught and in what order
-
Assessment and Evaluation - measure student progress, identify areas of improvement, and ensure that students are on track
-
Closure - allows students to reflect on what they've learned
-

Learning Styles - Learning styles are the different ways people learn and absorb information. This course focuses on understanding some of the most common learning styles, learning to identify what style or styles a student prefers, and then selecting appropriate teaching techniques to facilitate learning. The types of learners covered are:
-
Auditory learners - learn better when information is heard or spoken
-
Kinesthetic learners - learn by doing and enjoy hands-on experiences
-
Reading/Writing learners - consume information best when it’s in words, whether by writing it down or reading it
-
Logical/analytical learners - depend on logic and analytical skills to understand a particular subject
-
Social/linguistic learners - favor educational lessons that include peer work or participation
-
Visual learners - prefer to take in their information visually
-
Solitary learners - prefer to study alone without having to interact with other learners
-

-
Instructional Strategies and Techniques - Instructional strategies refer to the techniques instructors use to deliver their lessons. Choosing appropriate instructional strategies supports students in reaching their learning objectives. This class presents multiple strategies with a focus on Differentiated Instruction.
